Look for this monthly post where you can meet the members of the Rapid Ann Garden Club. We're starting with members who have the longest standing and working our way down. They may share a precious memory, offer gardening wisdom, recommend a book or who knows...

Anne Meade Faulconer

I joined Rapid Ann Garden club in 1972 when the membership was 13. I was new to all aspects of gardening and flower design. The many speakers and programs led to my interest in arranging and the Ikabana style. I have gone on to become a Master Gardner and have done design programs for other clubs. I am so grateful to the member who invited me to join Rapid Ann and learn from such a group of talented women.

My mother was a longtime member of the Hawfield Garden Club here in Orange County and, as a child, I was impressed by the many activities they were involved in, so, as an adult, I was really pleased to be invited to join Rapid Ann Garden Club. As a member, it has been a pleasure to be part of the many club activities including the informative and educational programs, the many civic contributions to help beautify downtown Orange and other areas, the projects with the schools and school children, the field trips, the fun parties and get-togethers, and especially the forever friendships formed. Thanks, Rapid Ann Garden Club ----keep up the enthusiasm!

The "gardening bug" came from my father. He started his gardens with good soil and from there grew blue ribbon flowers.
My gardening is more casual. Wildflowers are my favorites. I too start with good soil.
After many years, I now plant pots of flowers and veggies on our deck along with small beds near the house. I have kept one large bed at the back of our yard and have just come in from looking at the lenten rose and jonquils beginning to bloom. The arum is leaping through the ground. A beautiful sign that Spring is on the way.
